Sesame Substitutes And Eating Out
If you’re allergic to sesame seeds you must avoid them, but there are many ways to substitute, or remove, sesame seeds from your favourite recipes.

Avoid buying sesame oil or brands containing it. Use other types of cooking oil, such as olive oil, soya oil or canola oil (which comes from rapeseeds and is very good for you).

You can avoid most sesame products without too much trouble and find snacks and pastries safe for you to eat.
Grocery Shopping
You must be very careful of all bread and bakery items because they can be easily cross contaminated from sesame seeds on other products.
Eating Out
It can be frightening and stressful coping with a sesame allergy. Even so, with careful management and organisation you can still enjoy eating out and we’re here to help point you in the right direction.
Always talk to the chef and the waiting staff about your needs and be vigilant at all times.
